Washington, D.C. (June 18, 2025)—The International Biometrics + Identity Association (IBIA) announced today that BIO-key International Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael W. DePasquale has been elected to serve as the Chair of its Board. BIO-Key International is a New Jersey headquartered developer of advanced biometric solutions where DePasquale has served as CEO since 2003 before being appointed Chairman of the company in 2014.
“IBIA plays a critical role in advocating for and educating on behalf of biometric and identity technology providers and I am excited to continue my service to this industry by assuming the role of Board Chair,” said DePasquale. “As biometric and identity technologies play an increasingly essential role in nearly every consumer’s everyday life, our industry needs a strong advocacy organization that can educate policymakers and the public on how these technologies work and the various benefits they offer. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board and our IBIA members to continue these critical efforts.”
“Michael DePasquale brings more than two decades of experience in the biometrics industry to the IBIA Board, which has been invaluable in establishing IBIA as an advocate, educator, and steadfast voice representing these technologies,” said Rob Tappan, IBIA’s Executive Director. “His knowledge, insights, and connections will be invaluable as IBIA continues to grow and enter in the next chapter of our organization’s history.”
DePasquale has served as Chief Executive Officer of BIO-key since January 2003 and was appointed Chairman of the company in February 2014. Prior to joining BIO-key, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Prism eSolutions, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based provider of professional consulting services and online solutions for ISO-9001 / 14000 certification serving customers in manufacturing, healthcare and government markets. From December 1999 through December 2000, DePasaquale served as Group Vice President for WRC Media, a New York-based distributor of supplemental education products and software. From January 1996 until December 1999, he was Senior Vice President of Jostens Learning Corporation, a California-based provider of multi-media curriculum that was acquired by WRC Media.
Prior to Jostens, DePasquale held sales and marketing management positions with McGraw-Hill and Digital Equipment Corporation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and has served on a number of non-profit organizations as well as on the Board of Directors of several private companies.
