Physical Access
Securing access to sensitive facilities can be a significant (and costly) challenge. Many security systems now use identity cards or access codes as a way to log traffic in and out of buildings. Unfortunately, cards remain vulnerable to fraud and access codes can be observed or shared. Biometrics offer the strongest form of identity verification available for physical access, and do so at a much lower cost than monitored video surveillance systems. The ease of incorporating biometrics into existing physical access control systems is driving this new trend.
